Artist Information
Playing off a particularly enthusiastic response they hear at almost every show, Rusty and Laurie jokingly decided they had to dub their 2005 promotional tour dates the Dude! Where did YOU come from? Tour after hearing it from none other than Johnny Van Zant and Ricky Medlocke from Lynyrd Skynyrd when they opened for Skynyrd in June, 2004.
Longtime fans arent surprised. Rusty Wrights got the kind of guitar chops that make people stop and stare, as if spellbound. Wide eyed, people jostle for a better view of his hands and riotous facial expressions. Hes also a skilled movie and television composer, songwriter, audio engineer and in-demand session guitarist whose introduction to touring and professional musicianship came at age 13 when he climbed aboard a tour bus and became the guitarist for a successful southern gospel recording act led by his mother.
Joining him on stage is his wife, Laurie, a woman who knows how to deliver a song. With a vivid and expressive vocal style that stretches with ease from a breathy, crooned endearment into a two-octave slide that becomes a throaty affirmation of her ability to wail, Laurie LaCross touches peoples emotions - often making the most gruff and stoic man in the room wipe at his eyes with her blues rendition of Summertime .
Together, they soar musically, taking turns playing off each other. She laughs with delight when Rusty plays a particularly inventive riff. His guitar echoes the dynamics and emotion of her voice. He closes his eyes and loses himself in the music as he plays. She, in turn, looks out from the stage, smiling widely, as if to say Youd better believe this is every bit as fun as it looks!
Instrumentation
Rusty and Laurie tour with top-quality, professional musicians. The band lineup includes Rusty on lead guitar & vocals, Laurie on electric rhythm guitar & vocals, John King on electric bass and Danny McCree on drums.
These artists use American-made music products whenever possible. Rusty and Laurie use custom guitars and amps built by Reverend Musical Instruments in Warren, MI.
Booking Options
In addition to the 4-piece act, Rusty and Laurie can also be booked as a duo. Rates are negotiable based on length of show, distance and equipment requirements. This act travels with a full line of merchandise.
Event coordinators and concert promoters will find this act a pleasure to work with. In addition to being outstanding veteran performers, they are pleasant, punctual and dedicated to making each performance the best they are capable of so everyone goes home happy at the end of the day.
